The ABCI is the credentialing agency that coordinates the quality of education material, grading examinations, and credetialing process. 


Advances the quality of clinical competency for doctors of chiropractic specializing in diagnosis and treatment of internal disorders through certification and recertification of those doctors who demonstrate excellence in the chiropractic internist practice.

The ABCI shall promote the advancement of chiropractic internal medicine by identifying to professionals and the public those chiropractors who have voluntarily sought and obtained certification in chiropractic internal medicine.

Candidate testing for Part I, Part II, and Part III of the board examination is held:

4th weekend of April
3rd weekend of October

All paperwork is due FOUR weeks before exam!!! March 30th (preferably ASAP)  Please see the ABCI application link where you can copy and paste the application into a word document to submit via mail to the address listed on the application.

Please Note:  Next test is Sat. April 28th (Part 1 and 2) and Sun. April 29th (Part 3).

Part 1 Consists of
History and Physical Exam (Sessions 1,2,3)
Female Disorders and Pharmacognosy (Sessions 4,5,11)
Blood Chemistry (Sessions 6,7,8)
Cardio (Sessions 9 and 10)
Hair and Renal (Session 16  

Part 2 Consists of
Pediatrics and Geriatrics (Sessions 12, 13, 15)
Pulmonary and Vascular (Sessions 14, 19, 20, 21)
Allergy and Ecological (Sessions 17 and 18)
Neoplastic and Aids (Sessions 22 and 23)
Gastrointestinal (Sessions 24 and 25)               

Part 3 Comprehensive practical exam 
     
New Policy (Symposium 2011)
Once a student has successfully completed all sessions of the DABCI program and passed all module examinations, they are eligible to take the ABCI board examination. (Candidates may take Part 1 when they have completed all sessions for that exam). The candidate has a period of 2 years from the date that all requirements are completed to initially sit for the examination. From the date the candidate sits the initial examination, they have 2 years to complete the examination process. If the candidate fails to complete all parts of the examination with the 2 year period, they must attend an additional 24 hours of DABCI coursework to be eligible to retest the examination. Furthermore, those candidates that have completed the DABCI course prior to the October 2011 examination will have until April 2013 to start the testing process and 2 additional years to pass all sections of the examination.


 


Continuing Education

Diplomates of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists must attend twelve (12) hours of ABCI approved education every year to maintain their certification. This course material must be in the field of diagnosis and treatment of internal disorders. Courses and seminars that have gone through the approval process are posted on this website. If a course does not appear on the list and it is felt by a DABCI that it should be approved, please contact the Secretary of the ABCI to receive information on the approval process.

At least every other year the educational hours must be met by attending the ABCI approved CDID Symposium.
